Leadership Development

Why Ascent?

By stepping into a leadership role, Team Members and leaders are empowered to play a vital role in their own development as well as in that of their workplace and team, helping them to learn vital life skills and develop knowledge on core competencies associated with leadership.

Accepting a leadership role will prepare you for the next role you want to take on in life. Thinking about a job/career in the future or where you want to go to college? Leadership experience is a great addition to your resume! It will show that you have learned and begun to develop leadership skills. It’s not easy. It’s challenging but rewarding.

Becoming a leader teaches young people how to critically evaluate situations and communicate their thoughts with their peers and managers. At the same time, they learn important character traits such as self-control, self-discipline and respect for others.

Teamwork is an important component of leadership growth. Throughout your time as a leader, you may rise to some challenges and struggle with others, but it is all part of learning valuable skills that you will be able to take with you forever. Team Members must learn to help others to step up to the challenge. Like all other skills learned during practicing leadership, the ability to help others is applicable to any real-life situation.
